Ice Spice was born Isis Naija Gaston, on January 1, 2000 in the Bronx, New York. Gaston was the oldest of 5, but her musical talents derived from her father who was an underground rapper. At a young age, spent most of her free time listening to rapper such as Lil' Kim, Nicki Minaj, and more. During her teen years, Gaston attended a catholic school in Yonkers. She frequenly wrote poems and free style raps from elementary school to high school. Gaston explained to Billboard that she enjoyed Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Wu-Tang Clan because of her father being a rapper.

In 2021, Gaston started rapping after meeting with RiotUSA, and this was during her attendance to State University of New York. It was not until 2022 that Gaston's career took off. On August 2022, she released her song Munch (Feelin' U) which ended up becoming popular on TikTok, Twitter (which is now X), and it was also on BillBoard's Hot 100. Recently, her released her video to Deli, and the girlies?! are ENJOYING the hunnid bands in Chanelly!
