Rod Wave was born Rodarius Marcell Green on August 29, 1999 in St. Petersburg, FL. He is known for his soulful voice and being the starter of soul-trap. His rise to stardom began in 2016 with the release of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Before signing to Alamo Records, he was an independent artist. In 2019, he released PTSD and his most popular song on the album was Heart on Ice which had everyone in a chokehold for a WHILE. The song went viral on TikTok and YouTube and it had also charted on Billboard Hot 100. The father of 2 released his debut album Ghetto Gospel in November 2019 and it had landed on number 10 on Billboard 100. In 2020, Green released Pray 4 Love and the most popular song on the album was Rags2Riches. The song was his highest charted single and it was number 12 on Billboard Hot 100. With his sudden rise to stardom, Rod Wave was included in XXL's 2020 Freshman class. Since his come up, Rod Wave has been cautious about collaborating with artists because he does not think they share the same passion as him. Overall, Rod Wave is a great artist.

On August 12, 2022, Green released Beautiful Mind and I can honestly say Rod Wave had me in tears with this album. I love how in tune Rod is with his feelings. He definitely gave me Tank/Tyrese before he started crying on Instagram kind of vibe. I'm not sure what it is about this year, but every artist that I have come across has been in their feelings. However, I support it! My favorite songs on the album: Alone, Sweet Little Lies, Fading, Me. vs The World, and Cold December. These songs really made me think about my feelings all over again. I can truly say this project is one of those that you can't forget. From the aesthetic of the cover to how he portrayed his feelings, he did so well. I can put this in my " Sad Girlz" playlist when I get in my feelings again.
Overall, Rod Wave is one of those artists that you cannot forget! He is the pioneer of Soul-Trap and I feel as though he is the stepping stone into a new category of music. I love Rod Wave as an artist, a person, a husband, and as a father. If you follow him on social media, he is a hopeless romantic. He goes all out for the woman he loves and for his children. I wish there were more men like him because it is rare nowadays. However, I hope that he can collaborate with other R&B artists soon because he has so much talent and it is great that world knows it!
