Theren is an all 6LACK affair going on today! Some of you readers are probably like "Well, what are you talking about?" I'm not talking about the color black, I am referring to rapper/lyricist 6LACK (pronounced Black). 6LACK is the rapper who had singles such as East Atlanta Love Letter, Pretty Little Fears, and PRBLMS. The Baltimore native released UMI SAYS on June 10. If you have listened to any of 6LACK's music, then you know that his ways of rapping gives a euphoric energy.

Born as Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr in Baltimore, MD, he dipped his feet into the music industry in 2011. During this time, he attended Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. However, he ended up withdrawing from school after he signed with Flo-Rida that same year. After 5 years of learning about the industry, Valentine released his debut album Free 6LACK. PRBLMS ended up peaking at 73 on Billboard Hot 100 and also became his first platinum record. As time went on, he released other projects as well such as East Atlanta Love Letter and 6pc Hot EP. 6LACK provides a euphoric vibe when it comes to music and it reminds me a lot of J-Cole's old albums. Albums such as 4 Your Eyez Only, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, and KOD. 6LACK gives his fans what we need which are lyrics that we can relate to. Since he released UMI SAYS, the rapper has been working on releasing a full project at the end of the year.

On June 10,2022, 6LACK released UMI SAYS (which is on all platforms) it was a cover from the original song by Most Def in 1999. He states, "When I hear the word 'legacy', I think of purpose. I think of what you leave here on this earth when you're no longer physically here. The impact you make, the lives you change, the stories that you've created." I can say listening to this song, 6LACK put me in my feelings. In addition, with any 6LACK song, he delivers nothing but real lyrics. You can just feel his feelings when he raps and it just makes you want to slide down a wall while bawling.
All in all, I can say that 6LACK is a great artist. He falls within the category of an actual lyricist along with J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and more! 6LACK is the artist that will give you a sultry and sensual aura in his music just based off of the tone of his voice. Can we hope that 6LACK releases more music? I would hope because this man has so much potential! Moreover, we have to give him more recognition because his sound different from any other artist out here!
